Mother/Daughter Degradation

I was driving with my daughter when we got to a red light. We notice a truck backing up (with cars behind him) and stops so our car windows meet. It was hot out so our windows were down, and he yells to get our attention. Now he had a boy sitting next to him who looked to be no older than 12. As he catcalls us, I am shocked, but my daughter always quick to think, exchanges a few words with him.

Jerk: Hey mamis, how about you say we go and double date right now, in my pants.
My Daughter: In your dreams perv.
Jerk: What you to good for me? Am I not your type.
Daughter: NO! We don't date assholes...and you aren't worth our time.

By then the light changes and we go off, but I remember how horrible that can make you feel, as I am usually with my husband and don't have to deal with that, but my 16 year old daughter does, who looks younger than she is. She tells me things like that happen to her daily, and it makes me so angry that she can't go through a day without feeling disrespected. Also the poor boy sitting next to that man (probably his dad) will just learn from him to disrespect women too. It's unfortunate theres nothing more we can do, but I am so proud of my daughter for speaking up and I encourage every women to do the same, so we can put these assholes in their place!

Digital 911 in the Pipeline!

If you haven't heard already, Bloomberg's "Digital 911" is set to launch this summer. Digital 911 is a new initiative on the part of the city to catch offenders using cell phones photos and video. To our knowledge, New York is the first city to step up to the plate and catch offenders Hollaback-style.

When the program officially launches, we'll provide a link to make it easy for those of you that are interested in pressing charges on your perv. In the meantime, check out the details in Bloomberg's "State of the City."

But I didn't feel safe

I was out walking my dog around 10:00AM on 88th Street betwwen Atlantic avenue and 95th Avenue in Queens (London Planetree Park) when a man pulled up in a Dodge Durango, he made a comment about the way I looked and he asked me if I had a name.

He wanted me to get into his car and I don't think he noticed my dog. When I asked him if he was "f**king crazy" and I went to get his plate # he sped off. I stopped a police cruiser and told them about the man and the plate number. I am sure the cops dismissed my complaint. I am sure this happens a lot and women just brush it off but I didn't feel safe. I don't know how far it would have gone if this happened at night.

We don't deserve this.

I am a 17 year old female, and every day twice a day I am verbally harassed on my way to and from school. Every day i numb myself to this abuse because I have to. But today, at around 3:30 pm, I was walking down East Houston Street around Avenue D on my way to the subway. As I walked I got the usual stares from men who were checking out my body, but as I kept walking I could sense someone was following me. On instinct i grabbed my bag closer to me thinking he'd rip it off me. Instead he came up behind me, slapped his hand to my ass, squeezed and grabbed it as hard as he could, and then sped off running. No one saw. I couldn't do anything, I couldn't say anything. In a split second I was violated and left there feeling disgusted with myself, crying by myself on the street. i dont deserve this treatment, WE dont deserve this!!!!

Painting the Town Red

Well, this is about 30 yrs too late to be covered under the new law, but it was a supreme case of harassment. And nowadays, I'd probably be cited.

I was pregnant with my son at the time taking my alcoholic aunt who had a massive hangover into Manhattan to work. We were at the Borough Hall Station waiting for the train when I had this feeling behind me. Sure as hell, there was this moronic creep exposing and stroking his personals.

My profession at the time was a dancer in the wild and wooly world of topless/bottomless, so this was not a new sight. However, due to the dangerous times we lived in then, before the city got glitzified , to this end I used to carry a small can of red spray paint, along with a few other necessities to ward off overly confident morons who might follow me home after work. Reaching into my coat pocket, I turned around and sprayed this clown's action, chased him down the platform screaming at him as he jumped on a train going the other way.

The T.A. guy thought it was hilarious, but warned me not to do that again as I might get hurt in response. I was so freaking pissed off. I used the spray paint as it was a good way to identify predators and a bitch to get off or explain. The City was so much more fun then. I miss it.

D train DOUCHE

This PERV was on a Brooklyn Bound D Train in NYC On January 10th 2008.

He would tap girls on their "ass" to inform them of the seat next to him, and kept hitting some girl in the leg with his cane and winking at her. He was also drinking beer, where were was the NYPD? Once again nowhere in site......

I wanted to tear him apart.

Just yesterday morning at around 9 50 am the V train a man boarded. The train was nearly empty except for about 3 people and they were sitting at the other end. I sat by myself. i was on my phone looking at old pictures because i found it pretty weird the guy had to sit in front of me when there was so many available seats. i Looked up and his hand was moving but i quickly looked away. I noticed he took off his cap and struggled with his jeans then put his cap where his crotch was and leaned back. he was masturbatng! right there i kept looking at the other people but they didn't notice. i just sat there for 2 stops. It was so awkward. I finally got off at my stop and looked back and was zippering up. I wanted to tear him apart.

N is for Nasty

i feel like an ASS! On a crowded N train during rush hour you don't think much of people brushing against you, pushing against you. Clearly I should of paid more attention to the guy behind me. He made me uncomfortable, I thought that he was just touching my back, I moved as much as I could (you know in the crammed car) thinking well I am wearing a coat and it is his hand, maybe it is his bag grazing against me? By the stain on the back of my coat I was clearly wrong. If I was smart I would of turned around. I was amazed that nobody noticed! My friend was standing on the other side of him and saw nothing! I won't be taking an express standing room only train to work anymore.

2008: Year of the Rat

I have been masturbated at on the A and F trains and once on the Q, a man sat next to me, actually grabbed my hand and placed it on his erection. On all three of the occasions, I got up and started cursing, but NO ONE HELPED ME - people looked away or pretended not to hear me. Not even the subway conductors - one of them had the nerve to tell me that it wasn't his job to help me! I made three police reports but nothing ever happened. HollabackNYC, keep spreading the word and encouraging people to speak up. I am committed to raising my voice!

Boston Bust

An outpouring of tips helped, but in the end it was the alleged Green Line molester’s own phone call that led to his arrest, police said.

Less than 24 hours after his picture was shown in local media, MBTA cops arrested Jeffrey N. Berman, 60, of Newton yesterday after he called and admitted to police that he was the man caught on camera by a fed-up teen he allegedly groped more than once at a T stop near the girl’s school, police said.
